Fashion industry is getting more sustainable. Now Tom Ford has equipped the latest model in his Ocean Plastic collection with automatic movements. Following the success of previous model of 002 collection that launched at end of 2021.
The brand claims that the watches, which come with straps in a variety of colors, semi-matt black and white are the first to have an automated movement manufactured from 100 percent recycled ocean plastic.
The Ocean Plastic Sport 43mm case, as the name implies, “contains no virgin plastics or non-ocean bound plastics and is traceable to the collection source.” According to the firm, each watch purchased “is equivalent to removing 35 bottles of plastic garbage from the ocean,” and all packaging is recyclable.
The watches have a rotating bezel, Super-LumiNova coated numerals and hands, a Swiss-made automatic movement with date, a sapphire crystal glass, and a screw down crown that contribute to their 100m water resistance.
The research also investigated the supply chain behind the watch, ensuring that the transportation of ocean plastic granules is carbon neutral and that the “compounding process” in Switzerland is powered by solar energy.

Previously on November 2021 The brand released 002, the first luxury watch made recycled plastic bottles. Every 1,000 watches equates to 490 pounds of plastic garbage pulled from the ocean, collected on beaches, and diverted from uncontrolled landfills. According to the firm, it is extremely enticing for the customer to purchase a high-quality luxury item while simultaneously becoming a part of the worldwide eco-movement.
